Wage Subsidies
Job retention wage subsidies

As part of the job retention wage subsidy scheme, the government will partially compensate employees' lost income resulting from reduced working hours. The duration of the subsidy may not exceed three months.  The employer must commit to maintaining the number of its employees from the date of submitting such application, and to retain its employees for at least one month following disbursement. The program is available to employees who were employed by the employer, in compliance with the Labor Code, without interruption between the date the state of emergency was announced and the submission of such application.

Lost working time eligible for the subsidy may be in the range of 15-75 percent, that is, part-time work may be as low as 2 hours’ worktime per day, assuming an  original full-time contract for 8 hours work per day. If the reduced working hours are less than half of the working hours as per the labor contract prior to its modification, personal development time will only be a recommendation.
For purposes of calculating the subsidy, the employee's net absentee fee shall be taken into consideration. The subsidy for the lost working time may be 70 percent of the remuneration calculated proportionately to the reduced working hours. Applications shall be submitted through the jurisdictionally competent government administration offices.  Documents may also be submitted electronically through the Digital Gateway.
